The National Conference on AI Transformations: Language, Technology, and Society took place at the Railway Museum in Utrecht, bringing together leading researchers, professionals, and policymakers to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence in language and society.
The event opened with a keynote speech by Katie Atkinson, a distinguished expert in AI and law, who addressed the ethical and technological challenges posed by AI advancements. Her talk set the stage for a day filled with thought-provoking discussions on AI’s impact on communication, governance, and technology.

One of the key sessions was delivered by Özgür Togay from the NLTP group, alongside Florian Kunneman, focusing on Mapping Political Polarization on Social Media through Natural Language Processing. Their research explored how AI-driven language models can help understand and mitigate online polarization.
