Pablo Mosteiro Romero awarded a grant for ‘AI-Enhanced Automatic Language Detection for Bilingual Child Language Research’

We are happy to announce that our member, Pablo Mosteiro Romero, has been awarded a seed grant for their project  ‘AI-Enhanced Automatic Language Detection for Bilingual Child Language Research’  together with Merel van Witteloostuijn (Development & Education of Youth in Diverse Societies).

This seed project aims to generate a comprehensive report on AI capabilities for multilingual speech processing, establish evaluation metrics for AI transcription tools in code-switching contexts, and create a pilot dataset of AI-annotated bilingual interactions. These outcomes will inform a larger grant proposal to NWO focused on developing AI-enhanced methods for large-scale bilingual language environment analysis. The collaboration brings together their joint expertise in computational approaches to bilingualism research.
